InChoir Event - April 27, 2017

On April 27, 2017, come to the "In Choir" Event and sing with the Lincoln Choral Artists as we prepare for our spring concert on May 7.

Choral singing has the power to draw diverse communities together in a common musical experience. This program enables participants to get acquainted with great choral music by singing side-by-side with members of the Lincoln Choral Artists at a working rehearsal.

InCHoir

More than simply a rehearsal, "In Choir" events are stimulating, engaging choral experiences designed to illuminate music and text while revealing the historical and cultural influences that shaped their creation. Deliberately blurring the line between artists and spectators, "In Choir" creates opportunities for participants, at any level of musical ability, to get inside the rehearsal process. Hosted and conducted by Artistic Director Jason M. Horner, "In Choir" participants experience close-up and first-hand the gratifying work that culminates in polished performances.

This year's InChoir Event will include Faure Requiem.

All "In Choir" Events are free and open to the public. Scores are available 30 minutes prior to the beginning of rehearsal.

So come to the "In Choir" event on April 27 at 7:15 pm.

Choral Scholars

The Lincoln Choral Artists have 8 new positions available (2 per section in mixed SATB voicing) for Choral Scholars. These positions are open to any college age singers, 18 or older, who have interest in careers or work as singers or choral leaders, those currently singing in collegiate level choirs, undergraduate and masters level music majors looking for music performance opportunities, and students with a love of choral and solo singing.

Choral scholars will be offered opportunities in solo singing and small ensemble singing, conducting, section leading, composition, or publicity and concertizing development; fitting the strengths of each scholar as determined by the scholar and artistic director. Choral Scholars responsibilities include attending all rehearsals and performances, being a strong vocal leader within their assigned section, and maintaining good communication with the artistic director.

The yearly membership fee and cost for concert attire will be waived for each scholar per season.

Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:30- 9:30pm at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Rogers Center for Fine Arts, Choral rehearsal room. Rehearsals begin September 1 with concerts in November, December, March, and May. Choral scholars are required to sing for Jason Horner, artistic director, on August 25 during a scheduled audition time from 7:30-9:30 at First United Methodist Church or September 1, prior to rehearsal at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

This is an incredible opportunity to build your resume as a young musician. You will have the opportunity to serve in the community, build relationships with other musicians, develop rehearsal and performance skills, perform with a top quality auditioned ensemble, and perform music in many styles, including large choral masterworks.

Musical Memories: Singing “To Be Certain of the Dawn” was an emotional catharsis for me. I think I am a better person now, for having performed that piece.
